Louise at night

Friday, April 10, 2009

This shot was an attempt to try out some of the technique described in this post from David Hobby. Shot details: SB-900 through Lumiquest Softbox III to camera left, gelled with a full cut of window green to force more indigo out of the sky (and I used FL white balance in the camera to compensate); and full cut of CTO to warm Louise’s face. Exposed at 3 or 4 stops above ambient to further bring out colour in sky (which was almost black to the eye).
Fairly pleased with the result, although it isn’t quite the deep purple sky that the original post described by David Hobby displayed, but that’s what comes from not living in Hawaii I guess!
