Click on the photo to the left to get to the shots from the lunch after Emma’s first Communion. No shots from the service I’m afraid – a 70-200mm lens on a D3 never goes down too well firing away in a regular Sunday Mass

Below, you can see the photo slideshow assembled from the whole set of shots from the weekend, (so includes Elodie’s Christening as well).

[For family members who want to download a copy of the slideshow, you can grab it from the photo gallery.]

Enjoy!

Firstly, a couple of Sundays at that old family favourite – Painshill Park. The first visit was for a day where they children could plant their own seeds – Francesca went for a giant pumpkin, which is now growing nicely in our garden. Plenty of other shots from both visits, action and otherwise, and a couple of portraits I’m particularly pleased with.

Next, we have day 3 of the elephant hunt. This was a very bright day, which is always a pain from the perspective of getting light which is a bit too contrasty. Still, we managed to bag another 17 or thereabouts, bringing the total so far up to 96. Still a long way to go, but it’s a great excuse to go out and do some good old fashioned sight seeing around London. My “official” elephant shots can be seen either on Flickr, or SmugMug, and I’ve also created a new gallery on SmugMug which contains all the elephant shots which have Francesca involved, plus other shots from the “hunt” days; she especially liked dangling her feet in the fountain in Trafalgar Square

Click on either of the main images in this post to get to the galleries. Enjoy!

The fund raising rationale behind this can all be found at the organisers’ web-site – http://www.elephantparadelondon.org/. However, the real challenge is to get to see all of them, when they are scattered as far afield as Heathrow airport, to Greenwich.

We had our first family outing to “hunt” elephants this afternoon, and bagged our first 54. Not a bad first attempt, although we did get a lot of the easy ones, which can be found in “happy herds” in the Royal Parks. As the day went on, we did venture further afield, including a novel session spent hunting around the interior of Selfridges. Anyway, day 1, and 54 bagged. Francesca had a great time, and wants to continue, so I suspect we’ll be doing more of this over the next few weeks, before the elephants are moved on and auctioned for the charity.

You can see photos of our hunt successes so far here (with the latest one shot at the start of the set), or by clicking on the image above. Francesca makes a guest appearance, posing in a few of the shots – she’s the small one in the pink

This wasn’t a usual visit to the castle, as the day was also one of the series of jousting tournaments. We expected this to be something a little different, but were really impressed by what a great event it turned out to be, and all thoroughly enjoyed it. Definitely a return visit next year.

The tournament itself had plenty of great photography opportunities, but if you do ever go along, get into the arena area nice and early; we were there about 30 mins before the tournament started, and were still a couple of rows back, which resulted in me having a rope in my field of view for every shot (that’s the grey line you can see across the middle of all the jousting photos!)

Click on the image above to see the gallery of photos, and the YouTube video below has a slideshow of the same shots (created with Animoto), interspersed with vide footage taken by Louise.

First up is our family visit to Groombridge Place in Kent for their annual Crystals and Fairies weekend. We went to this last year, and Francesca had a great day, so this year we returned mob-handed, with my sister’s family, to explore the Enchanted Forest. Click on the image to get to the gallery.

The photos were taken with the D3, with many of the shots using an on-camera SB-900 for fill, and in the slideshow, you’ll see some live video footage elements, which were taken by Louise.

This is the first time I’ve used the embedded video capabilities in my Animoto subscription, and hopefully the results are worthwhile
