Hever Castle Jousting

Back in August, we spent the day over at Hever Castle. This wasn’t a usual visit to the castle, as the day was also one of the series of jousting tournaments. We expected this to be something a little different, but were really impressed by what a great event it turned out to be, and all thoroughly enjoyed it. Definitely a return visit next year.

The tournament itself had plenty of great photography opportunities, but if you do ever go along, get into the arena area nice and early; we were there about 30 mins before the tournament started, and were still a couple of rows back, which resulted in me having a rope in my field of view for every shot (that’s the grey line you can see across the middle of all the jousting photos!)

Crystals and Fairies 2009

Shocked to find it’s been nearly 2 months since my last post! Busy times both at work and home mean I’ve got some catching up to do, so let’s get on with it…

First up is our family visit to Groombridge Place in Kent for their annual Crystals and Fairies weekend. We went to this last year, and Francesca had a great day, so this year we returned mob-handed, with my sister’s family, to explore the Enchanted Forest. Click on the image to get to the gallery.

The photos were taken with the D3, with many of the shots using an on-camera SB-900 for fill, and in the slideshow, you’ll see some live video footage elements, which were taken by Louise.

This is the first time I’ve used the embedded video capabilities in my Animoto subscription, and hopefully the results are worthwhile

Bramble Hill Slideshow

Just finished processing the shots from a shoot at the Bramble Hill Hotel in Hampshire at the weekend. As well as the article on the woodland glade shots, I’ll be posting a couple more articles with full setup explanations over the next few days, so check back for more details (or subscribe to the site feed to be notified as soon as I publish them).

New York Holiday Slideshow

Louise & I spent Easter in New York a couple of years ago, and I’ve just gone back and put together a video slideshow of the photos from our trip (back when I was running a Nikon D200). Has turned out rather well (or I think so, anyway ), and I’m especially pleased with the soundtrack I found to accompany it; gives a real feel of stereotypical US city streets.

Francesca’s 4th Birthday

Last week, Francesca reached the big girl age of 4 years old, and last Sunday, she had a birthday party at Eddie Catz in Wimbledon. We all had a great time, and many thanks to the staff for making the party so much fun, and looking after us so well. You can see the photos taken at the party (plus a couple of extra ones from a small birthday tea we had on Francesca’s actual birthday back at home) by clicking on the main picture.

I’ve also edited together a video (shot by Louise) of the party, which was shot in glorious 2.35:1 panoramic/cinematic style format (none of this 16:9 TV widescreen nonsense – this is the real McCoy that you’d get at the cinema!) Watch it on YouTube below (or click a couple of times on the video itself to go to the YouTube page, where you’ll get the option to watch the full Hi-Def version, assuming you’ve got a fast link).

Science Museum Video

A few weeks ago we had a day out at the Science Museum in London. I finally got around to editing the footage together, and the result can be seen in the YouTube video below:
